These two launched within weeks of each other in 2026 and get compared constantly in community threads because they sit at similar preorder price points but solve almost entirely different problems.
xTool's argument is cost of ownership and hardware maturity. Its Pixel-Scan system pairs a full-bed line laser with a CIS scan for active height detection — something HeyGears can't currently confirm it has at all; CUPP flags the G1X's lack of laser/lidar Z-sensing as "a real spec gap versus eufyMake, xTool, and Morpho." The printhead economics are just as lopsided: a $399 secondary-source replacement estimate for xTool versus $1,300-$2,000 for HeyGears' i3200 head, which reportedly needs replacement every 12-24 months under daily use and has no purge-and-store function — meaning it can clog if left powered off.
HeyGears' entire case rests on one capability xTool fundamentally cannot offer: with the Full-3D Pack (not the cheaper Starter tier — the two are confusingly both branded "G1X"), it prints genuine freestanding full-color 3D objects with water-soluble support that dissolves in plain water. That's the headline feature of CUPP's entire 8-model dataset, previously the domain of $30k+ industrial machines. The Kickstarter's funding pace (over $7M in the first 22 hours) is real evidence people want exactly that.
Both machines carry real evidence gaps. HeyGears' most prominent early coverage is explicitly labeled sponsored content, and its own spec pages have shown inconsistencies (10-20μm vs 10-30μm layer thickness; three different texture-height figures in different marketing copy). xTool's launch event saw actual printhead collisions on pre-production units, and even its small early-access owner cohort couldn't get ink-cost or printhead-storage questions answered by the company.
If your work stays on the surface — signs, decals, apparel — the O1 Omni is the cheaper machine to own long-term with better alignment hardware today. If genuine full-color 3D output is the goal, only the G1X Full-3D Pack gets you there, and no amount of xTool capability substitutes for that.
